Lust is the essence of dreams, an ideal perfume, which narrates an uncontaminated, pure seduction. It rests on the skin, similar in all respects to an amber-coloured, soft, caressing coat. A perfume that is an ancient, persuasive, round recall. It is the essence of desire.

The sensuality of amber combines with the sweet notes of bergamot, cinnamon, violet and white honey, then blends into chords of Myrrh, Incense, Labdanum and Heliotrope. Ancient and honeyed scents are blended with a touch of talc and powder, to give shape to an enveloping and sensual fragrance, a bewitching nectar. It is a balm of attraction.

According to ancient Greek mythology, the first fig tree was created when the rebellious Sykeus was turned into the same by his mother, Gaia, Goddess of the Earth, saving him from the wrath of Zeus.

‘Athenean’ is a reworking of ‘Figuier’, one of the earlier scents in the collection. Here, the emphasis is on the fragrant wood of the fig tree. Aquatic green notes are balanced with warm, undertones of sandalwood, musk and amber.

The favourite scent of the Prince Imperial Eugène Bonaparte, son of Napoleon III who while exiled in England under the protection of Queen Victoria attended King’s College London before joining the British Army. This unmistakably fresh, elegant scent of lemon verbena has an accord of bergamot, cardamon and blackcurrant layered with a transparent floral note of jasmine softened by a touch of white musk.

Silphium (probably of the genus Ferula) was a plant that grew in the area of Cyrene, present day Libya, and was widely renowned as a spice, medicinal herb and perfume ingredient throughout the empires of the classical antiquity. It was praised by Greek philosophers and writers, as well as Roman emperors and cookbook authors. This is combination with its qualities as seasoning and medicine made Silphium the most valuable spice in the world, outshining both saffron and cinnamon. The demand for Silphium eventually became so overwhelming that it was harvested to extinction, and the taste and smell of the once greatest spice in the world was lost in time.

Fantôme de Maules is inspired by an enigmatic hermit that’s been living the last ten years in the forests of Maules, Switzerland. A modern forest spirit with the scent of oakmoss, lavender, green leaves, spice and sandalwood.

Inspired by an ancient Chinese remedy of camphor, mint and spices, this scent contains a soothing energy. The clean, top notes of winter green, camphor and peppermint evaporate to reveal the underlying spice and woody notes of clove, cardamon, cinnamon, pepper and vetiver.

Coccobello is truly intriguing and not your typical beach scent. It is at once creamy and green, sweet and fresh, classic and cutting edge. The benzoin, vanilla, and gardenia start a party that might end up with someone getting bitten, and something like mango butter makes an unexpected cameo. The scent projects into a gorgeous, creamy, and slightly fruity veil of scent that lifts you away onto the perfect tropical beach vignette: the breeze whispering through the palm trees, a cold drink in your hand, salt water dripping onto your towel, and nearby gardenias blooming with abandon.

As from the early 20th century onwards, the chypre accord has undoubtedly been regarded as the quintessential French perfume. Chypre 21 however, is a creation for the 21st century whereby the main ingredients of a classic chypre: Bergamot, rose, patchouli, sandalwood and oak moss have been reworked to create a contemporary, unisex fragrance. The scent leaves behind a wonderful, slightly nostalgic trail with a certain air of Parisian chic that would have been familiar to the likes of Jackie Onassis, Grace Kelly and of course the Duke and Duchess of Windsor.
