As a designer influenced by nature, it was natural that James Heeley should be fascinated by the world of scent. It was through his design work that he discovered how sents are 'designed'.

His first scent, 'Figuier', is remarkable for it's precision in evoking with apparent simplicity the natural scent of a Mediterranean fig tree. With time and experience, his beatifully constructed, simple, light scents evolved into more complex creations such as 'Cardinal', 'Esprit du Tigre' and 'Cuir Pleine Fleur'.
His continually eveloving work now contains a varied collection of unique scents, each made according to the art of traditional French perfumery. Every detail, from the creation of the scent to the recyclable packaging is designed 'in house'. Today, Heeley is one of the few living, owner-founder, independent luxury perfume houses in Europe. It is this independence that allows the creative freedom to create individual scents that are simply unique.
Born in Yorkshire, England, James Heeley studied Philosophy and Aesthetics at King's College, London University. He lives and works in Paris.

Reworked into premium cap-sule collections, each range takes individual cues from historic product lines, specifc details or moments in the brand’s timeline.

SS20/“201” draws from Helly Hansen’s workwear archive, an industrial area the brand has pioneered since its inception. With technical inovations in the late 40’s via the introduction of its “Helox” and later “Plarex” fabric technologies. These techniques added a layer of translucent PVC plastic sewn into waterproof coats and hats to ensure workers remained warm and dry in most challenging conditions.

With safety orange being a key tone on sites across the globe, these accents are played out against a more traditional workwear palette of khaki and blue utilising the brand’s rugged Duck Canvas and PU performance materials.

Multiple styles across the collection come with a clip-on utility bag in bright contrast colours and designs that utilise the revolutionary click.on™ system, developed by using a special nylon clip, which tightly grips on a range of tool holding modules, emphasizing the collection’s prac-tical origins.

Heron Preston for DSNY

Inspired by New York's sanitation workers uniform, Heron Preston releases a DSNY collection full of workwear essentials including hoodies, sweatshirts and t-shirts.

The idea to collaborate with an organization that keeps our water and cities clean, came as a result of an experience with a plastic bag in the ocean in Ibiza. All of the garments are created by using up-cycled clothing and donated uniforms from "Department of Sanitation New York".

Heron Preston wants, through this collaboration and collection, to give back to the city of New York. On an orange patch on the garments "Protect mother earth. Donate this garment when finished" is printed on to raise awareness.

The 19-69 fragrance Higher Peace is inspired by the Santa Monica Canyon and the documentary Tripping with Ken Kesey.

The scent is hempy, bladed and Play-Doh-y. 

“The scent Higher Peace is influenced by the Merry Pranksters and the retired schoolbus Furthur, which enlightened America during the 60s. It’s about never stop learning. Letting your guard down, trying to understand each other and, with that, traveling through unknown waters. It is also a statement of peace, inspired by the values of bagism, a term created by Lennon and Ono in 1969. The intent of bagism is avoiding prejudice and stereotyping by not judging others on the basis on skin color, gender, sexuality, age or other.”

Highsnobiety recently teamed up with New York-based streetwear brand aNYthing on a collection of goods done to honor the youth of cities like Paris, Berlin and New York. As fans of La Haine, both the clothing and accompanying lookbook reflect the film’s gritty black-and-white aesthetic along with the aspirations of the film’s central characters. The collection’s slogan, “The City is Ours,” adorn each piece, referencing a scene in La Haine where a poster reads “Le Monde et a Vous” with the “V” crossed out and replaced with an “N.” Thus, “The City is Yours” becoming “The City is Ours.” Available here
