HUMMEL x 424 – 1ST CAPSULE

Since 1923, hummel has been deeply rooted in the world of football – and a new collaboration with ever-present Guillermo Andrade of 424 marks a new chapter in the mix between modern football history and fashion.

This new capsule collection is created by Guillermo Andrade, lead designer of 424 and founder of hyped Los Angeles boutique FourTwoFour on Fairfax. Bringing to vision his own passion for football – and his love for Dutch football and their national team of the last 20 years in particular – the collection merges football silhouettes with a forward-looking approach based in the world of style.

“I wanted to show some love for the actual football kits that are worn on the pitch – and the clothes worn on the way to the pitch. That’s why you will find styles like the windbreaker and the track jacket. The wearable aspect is merged with the very technical aspect of football – based in fashion, but made to be worn on the pitch,” says Guillermo Andrade.

With its bright orange and black colour-scheme, the collection recalls the psychological part of football; how teams unify and can become an intimidating factor just by their matching kits is a red thread in the design of these pieces.

“It’s a dream come true to work with hummel again. I have always dreamt of providing high level football kits at a decent price point and offer it to a bigger crowd, so people can obtain it. And this is the perfect collaboration for that.”

The capsule collection is created in hummel’s hub for creative collaborations, HUMMEL HIVE. It’s the second collaboration between hummel and Andrade, as 424 was one of four creatives behind a small high-end capsule delivered in August 2016. With a range of designs, clear colours, a mix of the 424 and hummel logos and technical sport details present a modern array of styles that can be worn both on and off court.

Hummel x Astrid Andersen

The collaboration - and the collection aims to unite the proud sports heritage of one of Denmark's oldest sports brands with one of the most prominent, contemporary Danish designer in luxury sportswear.

Hummel has a long history of supporting positive social change - under the creative direction of Astrid Andersen this collaboration sees them re-purpose their archives of unused stock, advocating a future of more conscious consumption.

Together they have launched unisex collection which blends Astrid Andersen’s visual handwriting and Hummel’s iconic chevrons across technical team sport inspired styles and a sneaker that in a highly refined way combines classic sports aesthetics with eye-catching details and modern technology.

Hˆvding Bicycle helmet

Hövding is a bicycle helmet unlike any other currently on the market. It's ergonomic, it's practical, it complies with all the safety requirements, and it's also subtle and blends in with what else you are wearing.

Hövding is a collar for bicyclists, worn around the neck. The collar contains a folded up airbag that you'll only see if you happen to have an accident. The airbag is shaped like a hood, surrounding and protecting the bicyclist's head. The trigger mechanism is controlled by sensors which pick up the abnormal movements of a bicyclist in an accident.

images-of-a-woman-peter-lindbergh-1

After his “aperitif” book of models, Ten Women, which was a world success within five months of publication, Peter Lindbergh presented in 1997 his long-awaited larger title Images of Women, comprising the creative essence of his photographic work. Images of Women contains Lindbergh’s classic fashion photos, his great portraits of actresses and pop stars such as Madonna, Tina Turner, Demi Moore, Milla Jovovitch, Catherine Deneuve, Charlotte Rampling, Daryl Hannah, and many, many more— and, of course, all the photos of his supermodels that he has been saving up for his larger book. Images of Women thus provides a comprehensive overview of twenty years of artistic work of the highest level, showing Peter Lindbergh in his favourite role—as a man who loves women. The famous reprint is now available here.

in-store-release-carhartt-wip-x-l-art-de-l-automobile

For Spring/Summer 2021, Carhartt WIP has collaborated with L’Art de l’Automobile, the lifestyle brand helmed by the Paris-based car dealer Arthur Kar.

Conceived as an ode to Carhartt’s heritage, which saw the brand releasing its own motor vehicles in 1911 – pre-dating the 1920s automotive boom which gave rise to Detroit’s Motor City moniker – the collection combines Kar’s own design sensibility with classic Carhartt WIP elements.

Built upon the idea of a mechanic’s uniform – a nod to Kar’s background, which often saw him skipping school as a teenager to help his father fix cars – the collection features a reworking of both the Michigan Coat and Single Knee Pant, complete with a functioning mini-wrench keychain attached. The palette draws inspiration from the trees of Lebanon, where Kar grew up, and a specific shade of green found on Ferves Rangers – a rare Italian off-road vehicle manufactured during the 60s and 70s.

In addition there are two graphic print t-shirts, and a series of accessories and gadgets, including two caps and a Nalgene water bottle. Each item features exclusive branding that sees the logos of both brands spliced together, to create a unique KARHARTT motif.

The accompanying campaign for this collection was shot by Paris-based photographer Sylvain Sey, and art directed by the L’Art de l’Automobile team and Parisian boutique store The Broken Arm.

In addition, this launch is also marked by a video, shot by Angelo Marques, with an original score by its featured models, the music producer Louis Brodinski and the L’Art Kids.

The collection is now sold out!
